As a Graphic Designer it is hard to separate the commercial aspects of what you produce with the eventual outcome. Many times in the business of creating artifical need, we perform a delicate balancing act between doing what our clients' want and what we know is right. Are we radical enough in our approach to design? Do we offer out clients alternative solutions that can provide them with value beyond the tradidional life cycle of their products? The rapid change in events relating to the destruction of our planet based on the way we produce goods and then dispose of the waste it creates dictates that we rethink the way we live and practice our work.

We all gotta eat, but at what price do we put desires ahead of the planet's ability to rejuvenate itself and the rest of the world's population to lead a reasonably healthy life.

In the U.S. we venerate mass consumption. We comprise 5% of the world's population but consume 25% of its resources. We need to pause and think …what the f---- am I doing?

Socially conscious or simply awake, here are some links to design that might be useful…maybe…
