This class is designed for students to create and understand animation techniques. Below are a number of vids that have some themes that some might consider to be archetypical in their form for you to watch and deconstruct. For your first project, look for ways to recreate these vids by a different method than currently presented.
Students were asked to use After Effects to create pieces based on ideas of relativism and the mind. They used three d space, type, images that they photographed or drew, and placed shadows using lights, panning, and camera rotations. This exercise was preparing them to use camera flythroughs.
I don't know why they got so dark…was it something I said?
Students: Think in terms of content and medium. Can you make an adaptation that could use an alternative? Is there a derivative storyline that you could produce? Remember as copyrighted materials these cannot be used as is, but must be used as inspiration.
Some pieces may take a bit of time to load based on your internet speed,
so please be patient.
Directly below is an example of students' work. Works were produced in class in 2011.
They are responsible for all of the content. Art Direction, production, screenplay, music, animation, editing…the whole kit and kaboodle.
